Manifesto for Radiesthesia

  • Excerpt from La Radiesthésie pour tous – January 1946

For over sixty years, we have not deviated one iota from this path dictated by the Servranx brothers at the founding of the magazine La Radiesthésie pour tous.

In this magazine, we stand for simple and honest radiesthesia.
  • We refuse any display of pseudo-scientism as well as any mystical or occultist tendency. We do not see how radiesthesia is or is not scientific. We are not of the opinion that it must be. Is it waves? Probably yes, but not always. A part, a very large part, of radiesthesia is mental and could take place in another dimension, or on another plane. Any explanation that claims to be scientific, any analogy that is too summary with radio, seems to us to be missing the point.
  • We have never observed a radiesthetic gift or power. It is possible that a gift exists... and yet we have "got started" in a few minutes people whom certain "saints" of radiesthesia had declared "ungifted." In our opinion, any person of good will who applies themselves can practice radiesthesia very properly.
  • We see in radiesthesia an extension of the sense of touch and we do not find it any more extraordinary to use a pendulum or a rod – to refine our tactile perceptions and endow them with a suitable "amplifier" – than we find it abnormal to use glasses for sight or a hearing aid for hearing!
  • At no time do we want to be embarrassed radiesthesists. We use radiesthesia commonly and successfully in daily life. We do not see why we should hide that we look for objects we happen to lose with the pendulum and that we find them! When we have a cold, we look for a remedy (not our "wavelength," but the remedy) and the fact that we find it is worth the most luminous scientific explanation to us. In any complex question, we look for a solution with the pendulum or the rod. We do not care if it is "plausible" or not. It seems to us that what is true is what works for oneself, and in the most down-to-earth way of daily life.
  • We believe that medical research should be left to qualified doctors who practice radiesthesia (they are already numerous). But in return, we ask them to make themselves better known. Between two radiesthesists, one a qualified doctor and the other a simple healer, the patient will likely prefer the doctor. When there are enough radiesthesist doctors, this question will resolve itself.
  • Other radiesthesia professionals must make themselves known more openly. Magazines like this one allow them to publish their name, address, and type of research regularly. There is room for all good intentions.
  • Radiesthesia is expanding considerably in our countries. The number of its enthusiasts grows every day. Everyone must help the "movement" that is being created to become even more powerful and extensive.
  • There must no longer be hidden, hesitant, or "secret" radiesthesists.
  • We must all make our presence known.

Pendulum research on charts and sectors

  • Radiesthesia charts and sectors are mainly used to facilitate measurements:
    • - 100-degree discs,
    • - 180-degree sectors,
    • - homeopathy chart, etc.
  • or facilitate precision in research (choice between several elements, etc.).
  • These figures are "radiation separators."

  • Most authors include instructions for use with their charts: orientation to follow, where to place the witness, how to hold the pendulum, etc.

  • In the absence of these instructions, one can always operate as follows:
    • - North-South orientation of the chart (head to the North and operator (you) facing North).
    • - Subject's witness in the center of the chart.
    • - Pendulum set to the subject's witness (touch the witness a few times with the pendulum tip) and held above this witness.
    • - Mentally ask your question or read the written question.
    • – it is essential to understand the question well.
    • - Wait for the pendulum's reactions.
    • - Through an oscillating direction, the pendulum indicates the graduation or mention that answers the question.
    • - One can also follow with the hand or the testing pointer, if greater precision is required. The pendulum will give its agreement movement at the exact point.

What is the fundamental ray?

Relevance of an old concept
Its significance on the chemical level

  • Familiar to all radiesthesists, who long believed it would allow them to identify an unknown body, the concept of the fundamental ray is today fiercely contested. Many see it as a purely subjective element, specific to the experimenter, or, in short, an illusion. That is not our opinion.
  • What is the fundamental ray? It boils down to the fact that the pendulum, rotating over a body (which we can assume reduced to a point), also rotates (and even more vigorously) at all points on a line segment originating from this point, the length of which appears to be controlled by the importance of the mass of the body being studied. The orientation of this line (called the fundamental direction) is characteristic of the body in question.
  • Different lists of orientations of fundamental directions have been published. Their indications, due to various authors, sometimes coincide, and more often diverge. One might be surprised by this. The surprise diminishes when one has reflected on the necessity of exactly defining the experimental conditions. For it is known today that changing the color of a support, modifying lighting, the proximity of a magnetic field, or even the magnetic orientation of the studied body or surrounding objects, is enough to strongly shift a fundamental direction, while all other properties of that direction remain the same.
  • Before condemning the results published from various sources because they are discordant, one should therefore ensure they were obtained under identical research conditions.
  • Let us quickly pass over facts already well known: recognition of the fundamental ray with a pendulum set to magnetism, action of a bismuth fragment transforming, upon approach, the pendulum's gyrations into beats in the fundamental plane, etc... to come to some curious particularities that have not been reported.
  • We propose the following three type-experiments to our colleagues, which they can vary infinitely.
First experiment
  • On a table covered with black paper, let us place a small fragment of sulfur. By scanning the surrounding space with a sky-blue pendulum (set to magnetism), we grasp the fundamental direction of the sulfur and note its azimuth.
  • Place a fragment of charcoal (fusain) on the same table so that its fundamental direction meets that of the sulfur.
  • It is then observed that beyond the intersection point, the sulfur and charcoal fundamental directions have disappeared.
  • By scanning the surroundings of the intersection point with the blue pendulum, we find two new fundamental directions, which are no longer those of sulfur and carbon, but which we believe can be identified with those of their compounds CS and CS2.
  • A rather troubling result, it must be admitted; we would have a representation of the reciprocal chemical affinities of the bodies present on the laboratory table.

Second experiment
  • Let a drop of hydrogen peroxide now be deposited. Around this drop, we can recognize without difficulty the fundamental directions of the bodies that are here in combination or mixture (H, O, H2O) and that of the hydrogen peroxide itself.
  • Let us retain this last direction, and, at its exact opposite, place a piece of charcoal. The fundamental manifestation of the hydrogen peroxide vanishes immediately, while those of water, oxygen, and hydrogen appear reinforced. The pendulum's gyrations occur vigorously on these latter directions up to a greater distance.
  • The same result is obtained if the charcoal is replaced by zinc, silver, or nickel. Conversely, if, at the location where the charcoal was previously placed, one arranges a fragment of caustic potash or soda, the fundamental manifestation of the hydrogen peroxide appears reinforced, while those of water, hydrogen, and oxygen disappear.
  • It is difficult not to be struck by the analogy of these observations with the known fact that bases (potash, soda) increase the stability of hydrogen peroxide by their presence, while metals and charcoal accelerate its decomposition.
  • Could the image we evoke with the pendulum, of the relations between bodies, extend to catalytic actions? Could we not, pendulum in hand, say which catalysts facilitate a reaction, and if necessary classify them according to their efficiency?

Third experiment
  • Let us now try to obtain a representation of the synthesis of ammonia.
  • Let us make a fundamental nitrogen direction and a fundamental hydrogen direction meet.
  • Beyond their intersection point, the nitrogen and hydrogen fundamental directions fade away. Instead, at least two other fundamental directions appear, one of which can be identified with that of ammonia and extends over a length of about 30 centimeters.
  • If a fragment of nickel is placed opposite this direction, this manifestation appears fortified and extends over 60 centimeters.
  • If, instead of nickel, a piece of iron is placed, it becomes even more vigorous and extends over several meters.
  • On the contrary, copper, silver, carbon, and zinc appear to annihilate the fundamental manifestation of ammonia.
  • We interpret this result by saying that nickel, and especially iron, are likely to promote the synthesis of ammonia through contact action.
  • The preceding views are obviously speculative and require confirmation by numerous experiments. If, as we believe, they are confirmed, they seem to shed new light on the reality of the fundamental ray, on its intimate association with the chemical properties of matter, and also on its use for guiding and sketching out certain laboratory research. This last perspective would be exceptionally fruitful.

Search for an emergency remedy

  • If you are looking for an emergency remedy to soothe pain or discomfort, it is always in your best interest to start your search with complexes.
  • Because they combine several synergistic medications, complexes are often more complete in their action than single-ingredient ones.
  • Manufactured by major laboratories, they also present the most serious guarantees regarding dilution and dosage.

Revitalization via personal angle

  • We receive universal energy at an angle that is different for each of us. This was the title of a series of articles by Engineer N. Djoritch in La Radiesthésie pour tous (included in the appendix). This is undoubtedly a phenomenon known for a long time and, moreover, highly debated: the fundamental ray that Mr. Baradat (of Morocco) had defined in 1937 as an "individual vibration plane." But the merit of Engineer Djoritch is to have shown, notably through his articles, that the personal angle corresponds closely to the sources of our vital force.
  • To find one's own personal angle or that of another person, one uses:
  • — a fundamental ray disc, divided into 360 degrees, large format (e.g., No. 1 in the Servranx Chart series), carefully oriented to zero at the magnetic North using a compass,
  • — a pendulum carefully tuned to the subject (to their individuality, to what distinguishes this person from all others). This tuning of the pendulum is particularly important to correctly obtain the real angle.
  • Two techniques for researching the personal angle:
    • that of Engineer Djoritch. Holding the tuned pendulum over the subject's witness, slowly move the index finger of your free hand around the perimeter of the fundamental ray disc, starting from zero and moving clockwise; in two opposite places on the disc's perimeter, you will obtain a reaction from the pendulum over the witness, and this will define an "angle" on the FR (fundamental ray) disc with the North-South magnetic axis;
    • when well-trained in searching for the personal angle for different people, one can find this personal angle more easily by bringing the pendulum directly to the center of the fundamental ray disc and intending to obtain the personal angle of the subject whose witness you have in front of you. The pendulum then oscillates in a direction whose angle is noted relative to the North-South magnetic axis.
  • The personal angle, which is practically considered in relation to magnetic North, therefore has its equivalent in relation to the South. A subject having a personal angle of 330°/150° (see figure below) therefore has as a personal angle 30° before the North, but also 30° before the South.
  • Ordinarily, to benefit from the personal angle, one will consider the 330° direction (30° before North), but the opposite direction is equally valid: the personal angle is the angle with the North-South axis.
  • In case of fatigue or depression, it is often enough to position yourself facing your personal angle, especially towards the North (in the previous example towards 330°), to recharge in record time: a quarter-hour of rest in an armchair oriented towards the personal angle provides lasting comfort. It would be excessive to exceed 15 to 20 minutes in this orientation, as one would risk an oversaturation that the body would be unable to “store” and which could result in ailments comparable to those of hypertension.
  • For the same reason, one must avoid placing the bed for sleeping in the direction of the personal angle. The duration of the night is too long and one would also end up with a hypertensive oversaturation. For sleep, the North-South orientation is suitable for everyone, head to the North, feet to the South (or, if that is impossible, the orientation with the head to the East, feet to the West).
  • But the personal angle will above all be used to select the most suitable foods and even remedies for a subject. Knowing one's personal angle, one will prefer foods, remedies, colors, etc., whose fundamental ray coincides with the subject's personal angle or does not deviate from it by more than 30° to the left or right, while still giving preference to the North sector. One will reject elements whose fundamental ray deviates by more than 30° to the left or right, to the North or to the South, from the personal angle, with elements having a fundamental ray deviating by about 90° from the personal angle to be considered harmful.
  • In the previous example of a subject having a personal angle of 330/150°, the best products for them will be those whose fundamental ray is between 300° and 360°, and also those whose fundamental ray is between 120° and 180°. The harmful elements will be those whose fundamental ray is near 240° or 60°, for this subject, of course.
  • While one must avoid exaggerating a subject's direct exposure to their personal angle, to avoid hypertensive oversaturations, there is no exaggeration to fear in the use of foods or remedies whose fundamental ray is in agreement with the personal angle (not deviating by more than 30° from it), provided that one consumes these foods or remedies in normal quantities, at useful doses.
  • As Mr. Djoritch had foreseen, the universal energy that reaches us from the direction of the personal angle is truly the vital force, and one may think that it is the link through which our vital force is connected to the universal vital force, a sort of invisible current that would tend to maintain our forces in a certain equilibrium. It is easy to realize this by studying the force that reaches a subject oriented according to their personal angle, using our graph in Figure 1 below. One will observe an absolute identity between the force in question and the influence synthesized by the graph.

Particular sensation when prospecting for water.

  • One of our readers, Mr. Pedro-S-Ocana Delgado, reports the following fact:
  • When he goes looking for water in the countryside, he locates the exact point where the pendulum will react several meters before reaching the stream. And, although it is through his gaze that he catches this point of reaction, he has the impression that the perception is sensitive at the root of the nose, between the eyebrows.
  • Have other readers of ours noticed the same impression? This question is all the more interesting in that this point, between the eyes, has always been considered a special sense by many hermeticists and notably by the Hindus (third eye).

Our reader adds that many highly sensitive dowsers experience the same sensation.

Use of the best dowsing witness

Similarities (Similars)
Similarities are substances similar to the bodies being sought; they are analogous bodies. Depending on their consistency, they can either be held directly in the non-pendulum-holding hand, or placed in small containers (test tubes, etc.) to be held in the free hand.
Impregnations
Impregnations are objects belonging to or having belonged to people or animals, or having been in contact with them for a relatively long time. A dog's leash or collar, a person's gloves or handkerchief, or their handbag, wallet, watch, or pen. All these objects, impregnated with the subject's radiation, can be used to search for them or to diagnose—just as one would directly on them if they were present—the disorder(s) from which they suffer, just as they can also serve to determine the treatment that would suit them.

Names
Proper or common, regardless of the language, abbreviated or stenographed, names are excellent witnesses, essentially valid for the dowser who writes or pronounces them. A name is in connection with the thing it names.

Similarities of form
Photos, drawings, engravings, sketches, even schematic or rough ones; maps, plans, anatomical plates, cross-sections, and relief representations, emblems, symbols, etc., can all serve as a witness. These are physical witnesses, and the radiations that naturally unite them to the object they represent have been studied: these are shape waves. The latter have this in common with mental rays: they have no known limit of influence or obstacle. On the other hand, they are not very powerful, and some operators are not sensitive to them. Like mental rays, they are susceptible to numerous interferences due to all similar forms.

Color witnesses
Everything, living or not, always possesses one or more tuning colors: generally a main color and some secondary colors. Thus, for most operators, iron tunes (resonates) with red (and also with blue); copper tunes with green (and also with violet); water resonates with light violet (but also with white and light green); chrome resonates with indigo (as well as yellow); etc.

Mental impregnations
This process, currently used today, was developed by G. Brochenin. You know that when you think about something that exists, your mental ray reaches it immediately and, in return, the object you are thinking about sends you its specific ray. This allows for the remote impregnation of any substance with the specific radiations of something that is physically impossible to approach.

Concentration of waves
This process, due to Émile Christophe, allows you, by simple mental desire, to concentrate the waves of anything into any medium. This requires no personal mental concentration, which is a discipline quite different from what we will develop here.

The amplifier
We only mention it here for the record.

Do you want to make progress?

  • It’s easy! Train yourself with immediately controllable exercises. At the beginning, inevitably, you will make mistakes. But research verified on the spot profits you even if you are wrong. For it is the observation of your discrepancies that will refine your perception and train you for more precision.
  • As immediately controllable exercises, first practice evaluating distances with the pendulum:
    • - distance that separates you from a piece of furniture, a wall, another person in the same room, a vase, a painting, etc.;
    • - distance that separates two pieces of furniture from each other, a person from an object, etc.
  • Count this in decimeters. Several methods are available to you:
    • - each turn of the pendulum will be worth, for example (in this case), one decimeter of distance;
    • - or, each tap of the heel will be worth (still in this case) one decimeter of distance;
    • - or else, you will measure the number of decimeters on a graduated disc (100-division disc, see Servranx charts) or on a Servranx universal ruler (each division being worth, for this case, a decimeter).
    • Using one or another of these methods, you calculate the sought-after distance, for example, the one that separates you from a piece of furniture, and you verify immediately using a tape measure.
  • Don't be afraid of your mistakes. Record them. That's all. Do not get annoyed. Do these exercises for ten to fifteen minutes a day. In less than a week, you will be performing feats.
  • Whether you succeed or not, after eight days, you must change exercises. Then take the height of objects as the theme for exercises.
  • Height of a cupboard, a chair, a vase, a glass, a wall, etc. Always using the same methods. For small objects, evaluate in centimeters.
  • Again, after eight days (maximum) and regardless of your results, move on to another type of exercise.
  • Calculate weights. You will verify using a household scale or a small letter scale. The weight of a cup, a glass, your pendulum itself, your watch, etc.
  • If there is an exercise you do not succeed at, note it down to resume later, but do not get “stuck.” You will succeed better at another type of research, and you will see, later on, when you resume after one or two months a series of exercises you failed at, that the fact of having continued your training despite everything will have benefited you.
  • When your precision is satisfactory (deviations of less than 5%), practice evaluating the number of matches, cigarettes, buttons, or nails that are in a box. Careful, at first, you will always count too many matches, cigarettes... because your pendulum will be sensitive to the traces of objects that were in the box and have been removed. Here again, by practicing (... a little each day), you will manage to distinguish between real objects and the traces left by disappeared objects.

How do our detractors reason?

  • Dowsing is a chimera. It was demonstrated once and for all by Jarricot and Marcel Boll.
When a dowser finds water: they are a charlatan. Everyone knows there is water everywhere.
When a dowser does not find water: they are still a charlatan who gets paid for services that lead to nothing.
  • When a geologist finds water: they are a distinguished scientist applying scientific methods with talent.
  • When a geologist does not find water: they are still a distinguished scientist, and the result is very explainable, given the difficulties of investigation in a particularly delicate field.

When our contests succeed: it is a coincidence that we would be hard-pressed to repeat.
When we demonstrate that this repetition exists since the same dowsers have succeeded in different contests: it is a scam.
  • When we publish the names of the winners: obviously, it is because we want to encourage charlatans.
  • When we do not publish the names of the winners, it is because we do not dare, that we are afraid of revealing the truth.
Etc., etc., etc.

If this story amuses you!…

How to kill a circle of dowsers?

In an edition of the “Crieur Public,” a monthly organ of the Belgian Advertising Club, Mr. F. Hourez reproduces...
10 tips to kill a club.

Since this fits like a glove to some grumpy members of dowsing circles, we cannot resist the pleasure of interpreting this little decalogue in turn:
  • 1. Do not come to meetings.
  • 2. If you come, arrive too late.
  • 3. Criticize the work of the leaders.
  • 4. Never accept a position, as it is easier to criticize than to achieve.
  • 5. Get angry if you are not a member of the Committee, but if you are, do not come to meetings and make no suggestions.
  • 6. If the president asks for your opinion on a subject, answer that you have nothing to say. After the meeting, tell everyone that you learned nothing, or tell them how things should have been done.
  • 7. Only do what is absolutely necessary, but when members roll up their sleeves and give their time to the Club wholeheartedly and without ulterior motives, complain that it is run by a clique.
  • 8. Delay the payment of your dues as long as possible, knowing that, anyway, you will continue to be a member for a year or two.
  • 9. Do not worry about bringing in new members – what is the Committee for, anyway?
  • 10. Complain that almost nothing is said about the object of your activity, but never offer to give a talk, nor even to provide a speaker.

What is dowsing?

  • Dowsing is a set of special processes that allow one to find what is hidden, gone, buried, lost, mixed, inaccessible, imponderable, and which customary ways do not perceive.
  • The main instruments used for dowsing research are the rod and the pendulum. The rod is especially indicated for outdoor research, notably in prospecting for water, ore, etc. The pendulum is used in all research and, if it is of a suitable weight, it gives clearer indications and in greater number than the rod.
  • It goes without saying that, regardless of the instrument one uses, dowsing rests on one and the same basis; only the operating procedures differ slightly.

RADIATION OF ALL BODIES

  • Under the influence of various causes such as light, heat, sound, gravity, cosmic, electromagnetic and radioactive rays, chemical energy, disintegration, the action of thought or life, pressure, contact, affinity, color, etc., all mineral and living bodies emit radiations. In other words, everything that is emits influences.
  • An object struck by a solar ray receives it and immediately sends back towards the Sun characteristic radiations peculiar to itself alone. A body influenced by a magnet receives the action of this magnet and sends back to it radiations characteristic of itself.
  • Let us take concrete examples:
  • Between the sun and a sugar cube, there exist 1) the solar radiation and 2) the “characteristic” radiation of the sugar. Likewise between the sun and a piece of iron: there exist 1) the solar radiation and 2) the “characteristic” radiation of the iron.
  • We say “characteristic” because all rays are different and are very easily distinguished from each other, which allows one to know if it is a question of sugar or iron.
  • Sugar resonates with “sugar” and iron with “iron.” Each of these two materials has its tuning color and makes the pendulum turn a different number of times; each of them pulls our pendulum towards a different point on the horizon, and the angular aperture, in relation to the north, differs for each substance.
  • The radiations are characteristic of the bodies from which they emanate. The phenomenon is the same if, instead of the sun, it is a magnet or terrestrial magnetism or the thought of the operator, etc., that influences the sugar or the iron in our example. In each of these cases, the radiation drawn from a sugar cube will always be a “sugar” radiation, different from the “iron” radiation that these same sources would draw from a piece of iron.
  • The fact that a body struck by one or more radiations receives each of them individually while sending its own radiation to the sources emitting each of the received radiations is considered a general basic law in dowsing.
  • As all bodies are constantly influenced by radiation or by phenomena that generate radiation, and since, even in the absence of sun, sound, light, electromagnetic influences, or magnets, they are still subject to contact, pressure, disintegration forces, and the proximity of living and thinking beings, it follows:
    • 1) that bodies radiate at all times;
    • 2) that the universe is populated by radiation that travels from its emission source to other bodies and from these other bodies back to the radiation sources;
    • 3) that one only needs to be sensitive to this radiation to be able to find the sources from which it emanates, since it is characteristic of the thing it originates from.
  •  But how do we manage to find our way through this tangle of rays? It is the laws of body resonance (mechanical, acoustic, electrical, optical, and atomic resonance) in physics that explain our ability to sort through the radiation that interests us. In dowsing, we call this law: "the law of similars," which guides us unfailingly to the limits of micro-vibratory phenomena.

REMINDER OF THE PRINCIPLE OF PHYSICAL RESONANCE

  • When someone sings in front of a silent piano, one can observe that certain piano strings vibrate in unison with the modulations of the voice; these strings are those that produce the same notes as the voice or the harmonics of the voice.

LAW OF SIMILARS

  • In dowsing, we observe that bodies similar either by substance, form, color, or any other essential characteristic are in resonance.
  • Holding a very sensitive detector, such as a dowsing pendulum, in your hand, pass it between two similar bodies, for example, between two 100-gram brass weights. You will have the impression that an invisible wall joins these two similar bodies and our pendulum will bump clearly against this obstacle. This is due to the fact that our two similar bodies are in resonance: they influence each other. The invisible wall against which our pendulum bumps and hesitates is nothing but the line of radiation that unites them. In dowsing, this phenomenon has been given the name "ray of union."

MENTAL RESONANCE

  • A fact of the same order was highlighted by Abbé Mermet, by Emile Christophe, and by the engineer Voillaume. This very important fact enabled the expansion of modern dowsing.
  • If you think of a body that exists, even without knowing where it is, you immediately enter into resonance with that body. A ray of union is established between you and it. This ray is made of your mental ray, which reaches the object at whatever distance it may be, and the characteristic radiation of the body you are thinking of, which returns to you as a result of your mental ray reaching that body; in other words, by reaction to the contact of your thought with this body. There is no known limit or obstacle to this phenomenon.

MENTAL RAY AND RETURN OF CHARACTERISTIC INFLUENCES OF BODIES

  • You are not conscious of entering into resonance with everything you think about because the emission of your mental ray is an automatic unconscious phenomenon, like breathing or blood circulation. The return of the characteristic radiation of the things you think about influences only your unconscious and not the sensory organs placed under the control of your awakened consciousness. While the latter is not affected, your unconscious, on the other hand, is perfectly aware of it.
  • This unconscious perception is "motor." This character is highlighted by reflex gestures, which are minute involuntary movements due to the contractions of certain muscles; contractions that a pendulum hanging from the end of a cord held between the thumb and index finger can reveal clearly. Based on the pendular movements obtained, the dowser will interpret the perception they are experiencing; a perception that would otherwise remain unconscious.

UNCONSCIOUS AND DOWSING

  • The mechanics of radiation and their purely motor perception are not enough to perfectly account for dowsing. It seems that the explanation of dowsing goes beyond the notions of physics, which is perfectly normal since the human being necessarily acts as a "detector" and "motor" for the entire dowsing technique.
  • There is an element of intuition in dowsing, that is undeniable. But this daily, practical intuition is not the elusive phenomenon abstractly described in philosophy treatises. If you have someone read everything that has been written about intuition and then ask them to put what they know about intuition into practice, they will be hard-pressed to do so. On the other hand, instead of having them read, give them a pendulum along with all the necessary information for practicing dowsing, and you will see this person "practicing" intuition correctly without even knowing it is involved.
  • The unconscious governs dowsing perceptions, that is certain! But the word "unconscious" should not be taken in a pejorative sense. The unconscious is a second "self," more extensive than the conscious, having its own goals, means, and purpose. In its higher spheres, it borders on the spiritual and proves, through intuition, to be far superior to the conscious.

Can anyone practice dowsing?

  • We all have, to a greater or lesser extent, a sense of intuition. Wonderful intuition which, when trusted, helps us avoid pitfalls and leads us toward the right choices in any area of life. While a few rare privileged people possess it with such intensity that they need no pendulum or external aid, this is not the case for most of us: we must develop it.
  • Dowsing is the quintessential means to regain our instinctive sensitivity, our sense of "touching at a distance." According to the Servranx brothers, "dowsing is a set of special procedures that allow one to find what is hidden, buried, lost, mixed, inaccessible, imponderable, or imperceptible through other means."
  • Dowsing allows us to conduct research in countless fields: health, dietary choices, career guidance, searching for lost objects, character analysis, life choices... But beyond these fields of experimentation, it enriches our perceptions, refines our sensitivity, and enlightens our conscious through intuition, which exceeds the restricted reach of our senses and opens up unsuspected horizons for us... Finally, let us clarify that dowsing is extremely simple; it is practiced more easily than it is explained!

Félix and his brother William Servranx were Belgian and passionate about dowsing. Tireless researchers and experimenters, they wrote numerous books, founded a specialized journal in 1946: La Radiesthésie pour Tous (Dowsing for All), which was published until 1967, gave lectures, and mingled with all the great dowsers of the time...

This immense body of work is of capital importance for all dowsers, but also for those interested in micro-vibratory research, energies, and those who wish to take control of their health and personal development through techniques accessible to all, whether they are dowsers or not.
We are reissuing all these documents, these essentially practical, dynamic, and surprisingly modern methods, and all this high-performance material to make it available to as many interested people as possible.

Why a pouch for your pendulum and sulfur?

  • It is useful to keep your pendulum in an individual pouch.
  • In the pouch, you can add a sulfur washer or a small piece (taken from your sulfur stick), so your pendulum will be cleared of the remnants of previous tests and will be neutral for any new use. For more information on the action of sulfur, refer to the description of the sulfur stick on the ServranxOnline boutique.

What should I do to obtain clear indications from the pendulum, which spins in any direction and gives several different directions during the same search?

  • Adopt a pendulum better designed for your hand, undoubtedly a heavier pendulum, either in hard wood (boxwood) or in a molded, black material. No metal pendulum in your case, you are too nervous. Carefully calibrate the pendulum for each search.
  • Your nervousness may be due to the influence of an underground water current. Try to protect yourself with a 2-liter oil can (for engines) placed under the bed (and even a similar can under your usual seat). Cans should be replaced every two months.
  • Do plenty of exercises on known subjects: they will benefit you even if you fail them.
  • Dowsing is an excellent school of patience and will help you overcome your nervousness if you train calmly.
  • Recently, a more practical isolation method has become available: the Isodrap, an insulating mat against telluric currents, easy to place and non-saturable. For the office: Isodrapset. For the bedroom or living room: Isodrap.

Can you charge water from a sugar cube?

  • When you charge a substance with the Thoth pendulum, you are making an "energetic" transfer, as in radionic emission.
  • The "receiving" substance will have the same "energetic value" to "a certain" degree as the original substance.
  • You will notice the same "energetic" principle when you create "word witnesses" on a decagon (see the book Dowsing Materializations); if you write the word "Apple" on a piece of cardboard and leave it for 10 minutes on the Decagon chart, you will have a usable witness equal to a real apple, but the cardboard will, of course, not have the taste or smell of an apple.
  • You will find the same principle in the color witnesses of the "Colorimeter"; each witness (in black and white) has the energetic value of the corresponding "pure color." This is, moreover, the only method for working with pure colors.
  • Therefore, in dowsing and radionics, it is necessary to differentiate between an energetic value and our visual, olfactory, or gustatory perception of the thing, which is very subjective and varies according to our state and mood.

Good work.

Chance and probability in dowsing?

  • Before examining the art of the dowser from this angle, it is appropriate to define the terms probability and chance, which are generally vague or even misunderstood (one only needs to see, for example, the number of gamblers pressing around the roulette table).
  • Larousse defined chance as follows: Fortune, luck, fortuitous event; these are rather synonyms. We can provide the following simple definitions:
  • Chance is the characteristic of a phenomenon inexplicable by its causes.
  • The probability of an event is called the ratio between the number of favorable cases and the number of possible cases. Thus, in the game of "heads or tails," the number of favorable cases being one and the number of possible cases being two, the probability of winning is 1/2. With dice, it would be 1/6.
  • These few lines simply aim to demonstrate to skeptics and deniers of good faith the reality of the dowsing fact. The beginner in Dowsing will draw from it an increased conviction in their Art and answers to the objections of the ignorant.

    • - It's your hand that makes the pendulum turn! they will sometimes claim.
    • - There is nothing more accurate; it is just as true that it remains inert when it is placed on the table.
    • Part of Dowsing aims to amplify this reflex through repeated exercises. Habit subsequently makes it automatic. The dowser records physiologically what they feel, and this unconsciously, because you cannot fail to feel the radiation of a body, just as it is not normally possible for you not to feel the pain of a burn, for example.
    • But they will add: - You make it say what you want!
    • - Yes, if I want to, but if I do not want to, what will happen?
  • Then propose the following experiment:
  • Take a small mirror of a few centimeters in your right hand, then, capturing the light from an electric lamp or the sun, preferably, project it a few meters onto a wall in the shadow, in your room where, for example, you are doing the experiment; then try to keep the light spot on a fixed point with your arm outstretched;
  • You will observe, like your interlocutor, that it is almost impossible;
  • If your desire to remain motionless is firm, the light spot will oscillate little; if you let yourself go, it will oscillate more; and if finally you leave your hand completely free, the movement will seem almost abnormal to you because it is so amplified.
  • You thus demonstrate that while it is easy to obtain a greater or lesser amplitude if one wishes, it is much more difficult to remain motionless; therefore, the movement of the hand does not entirely obey the mind, since if I command immobility, I cannot obtain it;
  • Likewise, you will not make the pendulum say what you want.
  • We once heard a person say: "How is it that my pendulum moves and my hand is motionless?" They seemed convinced, but they were quickly proven that their hand was moving... without them noticing.
  • It is an objection that you will not be made often.
  • When you search for water, you will sometimes be objected to: "There is water everywhere."
  • To this you can reply: if there were water everywhere, geologists would always have to find it in their drillings, yet dowsers are often called upon in the face of their failures, and it even happens that the latter sometimes make mistakes.
  • It is the theory—absolutely erroneous—of a universal water table against which the geologist Martell rightly stands, which long led people to believe that there is water everywhere.
  • While it is true that in some regions water is found in water tables, it is also certain that in others, it is only found in veins or fissures.
  • In these terrains, drilling "by chance" yields water "by chance."
  • These remarks having been made, you will inevitably be told, when you have found what you are looking for, that you found it... by chance.
    • Propose the following experiment, which you will succeed in with a little training—abandon experiments where the results are "heads or tails"; they will never be convincing.
    • Draw a circle 2.5 meters in diameter on the ground in which you have a stack of 10 coins buried. Your interlocutor—the one who finds everything by chance—must indicate in the circle a point under which the money will be found. But what are the chances of them succeeding on the first try? A simple calculation tells us: one single chance out of more than 8,000; you yourself, moreover, have no more by searching at random.
    • If, in a series of 8 experiments, only 4 are successful, it is still mathematically 4,000 times better than chance, because it must be repeated: your partner, out of 8,000 points they would indicate at random, would find the coins only one single time.
    • This experiment, if successful with the pendulum, will show those around you, as well as yourself, that Dowsing is something other than chance.
  • Finally, and to conclude, here is some necessary advice:
  • - Only perform experiments with people who seek to learn or know.
  • - keep your distance from people who seek to pose "problems" to you that they themselves have no desire to solve.
  • - have the interested person perform the experiment as much as possible, reserving for yourself the explanation of the observed facts.
  • - the fewer spectators you have, the more successful you will be. A long habit is required to perform a demonstration in public.

Has anyone ever tried prospecting with two pendulums, one in each hand like with parallel rods?

  • This system is used to see if a beginner, who claims to be left-handed, would benefit from holding their pendulum in their left hand. The more sensitive hand produces the most ample oscillations and gyrations. It is precisely this difference in amplitude that would hinder a highly trained dowser in prospecting with two pendulums.
  • However, it would be an excellent method against autosuggestion. It would be beneficial to use this control method when searching for hidden objects that need to be located. Observant spectators would indeed notice that a dowser holding two pendulums is sometimes led in a wrong direction by the pendulum held in the habitual hand, while the one in the less trained hand almost invariably indicates the correct direction from the start of the search. The less sensitive hand is also less sensitive to impregnations, remanence, various traces, similar objects, etc.
  • In short, there is much good to be discovered in searching with two pendulums, at least for training purposes, and for all those who have not yet acquired too great a difference in sensitivity between the two hands. Why wouldn't you "delve" into this problem?

Is offset in dowsing a problem?

  • It frequently happens, during a search, that reality does not exactly correspond to the pendulum's localization. Where does this discrepancy come from?
  • The problem is significant and rightly concerns a large number of researchers.
  • Is the solution, therefore, undiscoverable?
  • This discrepancy is personal and varies from one operator to another, according to a constant coefficient for each. It therefore seems rational to seek the explanation in the neuromuscular phenomena set in motion by the dowsing effluence.
  • Recall that nerves are double conductors. They comprise, on one hand, a centripetal path that transmits peripheral sensations to the brain, and on the other hand, a centrifugal path that transmits motor reactions to the muscular system.

Let's try a diagram

  • Suppose the search for a point 0 in a rectangular perimeter ABCD; a first converging aiming point starting from C signals this point at 0 on the sector OC; another aiming point starting from D signals it on the sector OD.
  • The intersection point is at 0, marking the real location of 0 according to the centripetal sensation.
  • Normally the centrifugal reflex should return to 0.
  • But it is possible, and frequent, that the centrifugal motor reaction, however rapid one assumes it to be, is not immediate and undergoes a certain delay. In this case, the reflex line will shift by a certain angle on either side and lead the meeting point to 01. Hence a personal and constant discrepancy 0 -- 01.
  • This is, it seems, how one can conceive and explain the offset so often observed in research. It is therefore necessary for the dowser to know their discrepancy coefficient and to verify themselves by using different methods or comparing results with other operators. They will thus avoid errors that can have unfortunate consequences.

Examples:

A solution is to limit yourself to a few charts or scales and note the degree of deviation on each one.
You can also use a percentage chart or a simple scale from 0 to 100 and, after taking a measurement on any chart or measurement scale, ask the pendulum whether or not there is a deviation and adjust the figures found.

What is the relationship between astrology, dowsing, and medicine?

— medical astrology aims to predict health status, illness predispositions, ailments, critical ages and circumstances, and reactive possibilities, based on a subject's birth chart,
— astrological medicine is the art of treating and even healing through the influence of the stars and their markers.
    • Astrology is the science of correspondences between the stars and man. No one can deny the influence exerted on our earth, on beings and things, by the Sun and the Moon.
    • We are surrounded on all sides by multiple waves; "radioactivity, according to G. Lebon and Pierre Curie, is a general property of Matter; whether organic or inorganic, living, mineral, or vegetable, it emits numerous radiations."
Man himself is an element of the universal forces that clash or associate.
Nothing is isolated in the mechanism of the world.
    • Discussions begin when one tries to extend the field of these activities to the subtle effects of the other planets in our system, to the sectors of the zodiac, and to distant stars. The tone rises and becomes sarcastic if one claims, according to venerable traditions, that all this modulates the daily behavior and the future of beings, just as it does the properties of things.
    • Logic, however, is on the side of astrology!
    • We are all born endowed with gifts.
In a natal chart, no planet is ever missing, so there is no case of a human being deprived of everything.
Free will, intelligence, and willpower do the rest, but it is useful to know good techniques to improve the ordinary.
    • For example, by focusing your mental orientation and using your pendulum, you can verify an horoscope interpretation without the need to calculate solar returns or another astrological chart.
    • Are you very sensitive to planetary influences? Do you have pronounced ups and downs?
It is likely that these cyclical changes in your moods are due to planetary influences.
You will find here a process that could partially solve the problem of this excessive sensitivity to unfavorable influences without having to touch that precious instrument which is, precisely, sensitivity!
    • While it is true that most astrology treatises contain excellent chapters on medical astrology, let us distinguish between "Astrological Medicine," discussed in this book, and:

  • We will introduce you to these procedures and teach you how to use planetary and zodiacal sign markers, either to attune remedies or to use them directly in the treatment of diseases.
To follow us, it will not be necessary for you to have knowledge of astrology.
  • And tell yourself that if you are not the one using these forces, these "blind" forces will take care of you!

Shock waves

  • When you do not obtain very clear results from a chart, a device, or a marker, remember that it is easy to awaken it through the shock waves of a simple (running) watch, placed under or against the system.
  • This often allows for obtaining the effects described in a book or article and overcomes the smothering observed in places where an excessive number of protections against harmful waves have been installed—protections that can distort all dowsing detections.

Thoth pendulum or Egyptian pendulum?

We are often asked if one obtains results just as good with a pendulum resembling the Thoth pendulum as with a genuine Thoth pendulum.

It also happens that when our readers wish to purchase a Thoth pendulum, they are offered a pendulum that looks like our Thoth pendulum but will not yield the expected results.
Marc Roquart, thanks to the advice of his master, developed the Thoth pendulum as it is presented by our Servranx publishing house.

There are other "Egyptian" style pendulums, but only the genuine Thoth pendulum will provide full satisfaction. Dowsers probably have good results with other pendulums, but if you have a choice, it is better to opt for the genuine Thoth pendulum rather than choosing a copy. This is all the more important if you wish to explore the universes that each of us encounters throughout life.

To succeed in the experiments described by Marc Roquart in his book, only the genuine Thoth pendulum will yield the desired results, especially in terms of radionics and wave emission.

We are the only ones to sell the genuine Thoth pendulum presented in a wooden box stamped with the SERVRANX logo and name.
